THE VW SCENE HAS LOST THERE MASCOT
CHRIS FISHER (AKA SKEETER)
No matter were you went, Skeeter was there. He was the first on the scene and the last to leave.
He would always greet you with a hand shake and a smile.
The Man drove His Car everywhere. It was his pride and joy. He loved his VW with the detachable roof.
People used to tease him about it, but that is what made it unique, just like him.
Skeeter never asked if you needed help, he would just start helping.
Skeeter was a good, kind, helpful and giving person.
We are going to miss you Skeeter - God Speed – Say Hi to Mark
Life is better with a detachable Roof

I was visiting Bill Schwimmer at his home yesterday when Mike Herbert phoned to pass the news. Skeeter was a unique person from what I could see usually at Nicks. He would always come in and say "Hello" and now I wish I'd made more of an effort to get to know him better.
The joke amongst some of us was to try take his parking space before he arrived and see what would happen. Now I'm glad that we never did as it was very appearant he was proud of his car.
God's speed Skeeter

Skeeter! What a guy. He laughed, made us laugh, talked crap, talked sense, had fun, knew how to enjoy himself – a guy with a ready smile, a kind heart. We'll miss him. Too young. Much too young.

I didn't know Chris "Skeeter" Fisher, but it sounds as though he was a rare find and those that did were lucky to share his smile and great humor. You will be missed! Gods speed Skeeter!
We're losing to many friends lately. Be sure those close to you know ...

Very sad news and so young. He will be missed. I met him in 2008 at Nick's where he was a fixture. And most times... he was the first one there for any VW event.
Rest in peace, Chris... you were taken much too soon.

Although I never met Skeeter, I could tell from his posts here and on the CLF that he was a good guy who was liked by many. His great attitude and sense of humor will definitely be missed. FYI, Volkswagen Racer Relief is collecting money to give to Skeeter's family. Donations can be sent via PayPal to Lance at lance@exactcolor.net. If you send $20 and want a racer relief t-shirt, include your address and size in the PayPal message. Alternatively, you can send a check via snail mail to: Lance Gregory 1315-i N. Tustin Ave Orange, CA 92687 Please put Racer Relief in the memo sectionI believe that Lance will be bringing VW Racer Relief t-shirts and stickers to the memorial for Skeeter on Thursday PM 3/1 at Imperial Burgers in Buena Vista, CA.

Rad. Never saw the person on the roof taking pics.
There's my bucket next to the car in the foreground.
A lot of people there and a few good speeches ensued.

I never met Skeeter, but heard nothing but good things. He always seemed to be having a good time based on the posts I'd seen on various VW sites on the web. What happened, and was there ever a cause of death determined? I haven't seen anything posted yet, other than he was found in his garage? Just curious. Also, how old was he?
