If only words could describe the feeling of waking up to a nightmare unequaled in modern Norwegian history. What we saw yesterday seemed at first very unreal.
TV images from Utøya today is heartbreaking and deeply tragic. Government buildings were blown up and young people were slaughtered by a cowardly man who calls himself nationalist.
It is difficult to understand what has happened in our small country. Relatives and survivors of this tragedy will never regain the life they had before July 22 2011.
Our thoughts go in these times to all relatives, injuries and fatalities.

There is absolutely no excuse for an action like that. Not even insanity. This is a direct strike against democracy.  We shall never surrender!

All the best from Jutland

Such a needless tragedy stemming from the spineless doings of a cowardly individual. So very sad, too. Prayers going out to the family friends of the people that were lost.

...A memorial service also was held by the Labor Party and its youth wing in Oslo Friday, with Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg making an address followed by a moment of silence. Stoltenberg described the victims as "heroes," saying the country would respond with "more democracy," according to BBC News.

"Today it is one week since Norway was hit by evil...We are not going to be shocked and intimidated into silence," the BBC quoted Stoltenberg as saying. "The bravery that these young people have shown is catching. We're going to answer hatred with love. We're going to honor our heroes forever."

That's an excellent quote, attitude, and plan. The people of Norway are in my thoughts.
