Tom, I'd have to check my catalogs but if I remember correctly EMPI did offer a composite (faux wood) steering wheel. If yours has the Empi stamp on it, I'd venture a guess that it's real.
Thank´s Jos After searching a lot in the Web it seem´s to be an GT Deluxe, but in my case with the totaly wrong horn Greets Tom

still a sweet steering wheel Tom, Congrats on the score.
Chris, my pictures are actually the crappy cell pics. Do you have any idea who made that steering wheel? where did you find that horn button? I love the look of the wheel as a whole but I couldn't justify using it without a horn button.

My picture was dark, I had the horn button made by a friend and he cut a pocket for a Porsche center cap. At one time I knew who was made that wheel but have forgotten. Mine was cracked all over on the spokes, yours looks good.

http://www.machine7.com/product.php?xProd=13319&xSec=3332 I use this - 1 Grant Nostalgia 15" slotted spokes style. I find it a nice variation on the tradiditional wooden EMPI GT weel, and suits the rest of the interior more, as everything is monochrome..! white car, balck interior with metal accents - works for me!

Anyone know what this wheel is and approx value? It's a friends and he's taken it off his volksrod for something else as it's too big for the car, he's a tall dude and the car has a heavy roof chop. Anyway. I like the look of it, tempted myself!

Moto-Lita Mark 4, 35,5cm/14" diameter, dished around 5cm. Have another one without dish that I think looks better.
Horn button is a NOS oval batwing button with the original white paint removed. Had to shave the outer diameter about a tenth of a millimetre to make a snug fit.

My buddy gave me/my car a VDM Coach wheel for her 50th birthday yesterday, and it took all of about half an hour this morning to decide to put it on. I'll be restoring it at some point in the future, but for now, I think I'll rock it as it is. Or maybe I'll get brave and try to leather wrap it.

Completely changes the look of the wheel.

I will definitely keep that in mind! Right now, I really like the change up from stock black to the nice, light tan. I definitely want to wait and see how hot the wheel gets after sitting in the sun all day before I decide what I want to do with it.

Nothing too complicated. Guess i'm lucky with a red car, it sets off a wood rim beautifully.
