Regarding the Lyon's sign.  Yours truly was there in 1964 racing his 40HP Judson Supercharged '63.  We would drive around for days afterwards not wanting to clean the shoe polish off the windows.

Ah, those were the days...............    Wink Wink Wink

Thanks for sharing Keith. The Irwindale sign brings back fond memorys, as kids we often went there on weekends instead of the movies. Much more dynamic form of  entertainment!
Don't remember the time period of that sign, but the graphics are super cool. I like how the artist used the digger tires to dot the I's!

I was at the Last Drag Race.....I was 9, my dad raced hid A/FC there, lost first round to Veney or Wild Wilfred I think. We were there until 2 or 3 in the morning! We were at Irwindale a couple times a month also, I remember the FIRST "In and Out" burgers.......pit side concession stand at about 1000'. Irwindale will be forever etched into my memory, my dad lost his car and driver there during a qualifing pass, on my birthday, on Easter. Nearly lost me too. I was on the back of our ramp truck when the car flipped and almost fell off when Tom (Ridings) my dads crew member sped off to get to the car.    RIP Donny "The Hippie" Diechman, 38 years ago today
