145 would be preferential, but have been offered a pair of the above for cheap so am considering these.

If they were given to me I wouldn't use a 135, just a little bit of moisture on the road and those pizza cutters go into a skid into the curb. Ruined an alloy and bent the beam in my first notchback because of those tires, never again

Technically - you can.
And I even like the looks.
But I would not use 135s in a Beetle unless it would be a drag car or a show car never driven on a road.
