I have done this before but not on a 66 bug . what to do about the flashers ?

I've seen a few NOS 12V '67/68 flashers on eBay lately ...
Otherwise, I believe Wolfsburg West makes this one ...

I put a new harness from bill and steves in downey in a 67 a few years back and the sold me a unit that replaced the VW flasher box with standard relays worked great! Good luck
