hi there Russell,
i've heard conflicting views on this but i think that they didn't use the BRM or Empi8 style sleeves......the ball socket type of empi 5 obviously doesnt as they are designed to suit the original VW bolts.......i have the other style of empi 5, which have the large flat bolt hole....most people refer to these as the early type, but actually these were the porsche 356 type ...... they fit on those drums/studs perfectly....with no sleeves or whatever.
if you have the larger flat holed 356 type machine7 do a lug nut which is a perfect fit for them.....let me know if you need those and i'll give you the product code.
cheers...jick

on the pictures i found they all have cups allready drilled in the wheels. but my 8 spokes need protectors, just like BRM's.
maybe there were different castings... speedwell will help more for sure

standard mag lugs wont work they dont make a mag lugnut with a large enough shank the Holes in the wheel are much Bigger then the standard Mag Lugs you have to use the spacers see picture

...."if you have the larger flat holed 356 type machine7 do a lug nut which is a perfect fit for them....."
i have the same type of empi and the mag nuts that machine7 supplied me fit perfectly....no need for spacers/ sleeves etc.....
***item code..402.240.70 wheel nut, mag m12x1.5, 3/4"od, 12 flat washer....£2.75 each.***
these are nuts to be used with studs by the way.....
