so my 67 is finally at home! backstory on the find of my vw life. I've been collecting parts and intending to get back in the scene for about 3 years, i had a 67 sunroof during this time, but the amount of work that needed to go into getting it streetable was not the path i was looking to go down.
flash forward to mid may i got a call from my friend jason ( i kinda take the blame for getting him the vw sickness i sold him a 54 oval). when i got to the bar he told about a 67 blue beetle for sale in the north part of las vegas, the pics were a bit blurry but jason and our friend greg had seen the car at the local shop the wagen and assured me it was a great solid ride.
so a little backstory on the car, it had a cb fuel injected motor, street trans, cb front disc brakes, adjustable front end, custom a1 exhaust, suffice to say the car needed two days to finish the interior, and some time to sort out the fuel injection issues, but luckily for us the previous owner was frustrated and wanted to be done with vw's, so suffice to say we made a very beneficial score. jason would keep the motor and i would get the car less motor which is fine since i'm very close on my 2110 motor being complete.
i will post some pictures here soon and keep you guys up to date !

wow i cant believe it's been since october since i posted here ! well anyways the holidays came and i took a break from the car for now we are back on ! so the long block parts are all at a friends place, you might remember a ghia back in the mid 90's called mighty mouse that's dave and he is building my motor. dave is not as well known as some but he builds real solid motors and i wanted to be close to the build so i could see the progress and dave will be helping me with other issues that have come up on the car. it seems like you find something you didn't expect when you get down to work but i'm trying to keep my head up and keep going everyday ! right now i'm waiting on my exhaust from tiger at A1 and a polished berg linkage, then its pretty much finish work.

Can i ask where you got these from? I would like this style for my engine project, but my googling skills have failed to find me any in the UK, so importing is the next option.

And i love the way your car is going. Going to be a lovely.

so the short block is done ! we ran into some small issues nothing major considering a custom build, dave is being a good guy about everything and he usually works on it at night and will text with me small updates. the cylinders and heads are being worked to get us to an 11:1 compression   Grin so hopefully we will be longblocked by week's end, also needed some odds and ends for tin went to http://www.awesomepowdercoat.com/index.html, these guys are great and had my tin in less than two days so tin is off to coaters this week, dave will be taking a week off for his birthday then we will fire it up last week of the month ! http://www.flickr.com/photos/66918181@N03/

well the wallet had some setbacks in the month of april, taxes, new tires for the daily driver, so wont be making classic very sad, but on the up side we ditched the sig erson rockers for some cb forged 1.4 rockers . and the tin was dropped off at the coaters today for a midnight black black with a wrinkle finish so im still chugging along next date is jamboree !

Is it wrinkle finish powder coat you have used on your engine tins?

Best rgs and keep on with the good work!

after deciding about 5 years ago i wanted to get back into vw's it started with the purchase of a berg power pulley on TheSamba.com, now tonight the dream is one step closer ! dave texted me at 1:14 am to let me know that the motor is alive and sounds like a beast ! much thanks to David Mcfarlan for bringing my vision of a cal look motor with a nod to the past to life. next week the car (which i found thanks to Jason  Dunkle)will be making its way over and it will be one step closer to being the cal look car i've been dreaming of for these last few years !
