Turtle, great looking 912. The coupe body looks so much better. Never have been a fan of the Targa. Only way they look good = make a cabriolet out of it.

While tracking a car, 'tis a good idea (and the rules) to remove any hub and/or center caps.

OK, so I get that, but these cars are driving on the highway or parked. So I'm guessing this is the owner trying to make their car look incomplete and send a message to fellow "in the know" owners that they're car might hit the track?

Don't know... don't care. But I dig Dave's car and would like to hear/read more about it.

IN my case, its just an attempt to mimic the factory ST racing car from 69 and early 70 before they sprouted big flares. The fiberglass seats, roll hoop, centerfill 100 litre tank are all bits that I have found to replicate that era of factory sports purpose racer. I will try to dig up a photo.

here is a pic of roger grago's car 2 years ago at the monterey historic car races. Color is aborgine, eggplant in german ? Real porsche color. This is actually the the 2nd 911 aborgine color roger built. The first on was built and sold in the early 80's , no rs flares as I remember, as we where roomates for 10 years living in balboa (newport beach) . He has always had a dkp decal in the rear window. I believe roger said the r group was influenced by dkp guidelines. Many went the 911 way after dkp days. Roger helped me redo my 72 911, grand prix white, black trim, 2.7 carrera motor. I also remember a friday night after partying at speedway motorcycle racing, we decided to drive his 911 to mammoth mountain ski resort ( 350 miles) and go skiing. Left at 1 in the am, drove via downtown los angeles ( shorter way) , hauling ass.. Roger decides to make the goal of the mammoth exit in under 4 hrs. We did it with 1 ticket..The motor at that time was 2.2 911t carbed. He now has in his garage the makings of a 2.8 twin plug motor.. With rogers' recent health set back, it will take a little longer but he is doing well as per our last conversation. Pre 73 911's rock, but I really would like a 87 carrerra with g50 trans. Workmanship and paint where at a peak for porsche at that time. THANK YOU ROGER...keep on the mend.. bill

I always wondered if Aubergine would look right on a Cal Bug. It is great on 911's, but might be mistaken on a Beetle for a bad choice of purple?

there was a 67 painted aborigine by someone in dkp2 but, I think the club was just over by then, can't remember his name, barry I think ? The color at twilight and night time really make it a good choice, almost looks black. White 911 car in pic is a 72, same weekend in monterey, car parked in the the pits. Looked alot like mine but I had powder coated black trim. 1972 only 911's had an OIL filler cap/door access in right rear 1/4 panel, changed for reasons of... ? I bet a few housewifes or x friends put fuel down it... EXPENSIVE fix... Mark thurber of fat also had a red 72 911 converted to " 911 cal - look." 1972 was first year of 2.4 motors, t,e,s all had mech injection and 915 trans. vs prior 71 2.2, earler still 2.0's, w/ 901 trans, think 914 shift pattern. 1973, early 911's had mech inj, lates cis, 1974 brought big bumbers and 2.7 cis with smog , case, head stud problem motors. The 73 rs motors ( euro only ) where 2.7 mech inj rated at 210 hp. I could power slide my car like my weber vw's. Rogers lisc plate means to read.. 73 rs touring ..model. MANY great road trips in his car. bill
