Would like to thank the DKK members for letting my buddy Randy and I eat breakfast with them at Polly's Pies. AND park with them at the Jamboring, now how cool is that. Thank you Dan, Rick, Lisa, Henry, Worm, Todd, and if I missed anyone, my apologies. Had a GREAT time, and then I get second place in my class in the car show. WOW! Thank you all!

Yep... Real shame.  Great location and a real fun event.  Nice for a change not being a parking lot.  Nice if the DKK folks to give you the invite too.  Pretty nice group of people.

I wonder if anyone has explored The Orange County Great Park as a future event site...   Huh
It's the old El Toro Marina Base, located VERY close to our old OCIR drag strip.   Cool

Great news Pip. You certainly have the nicest venue of any of the large shows in So Cal.

How about LTA?   http://www.placesearth.com/usa/california/orange/tustin_air/tustin_air.shtml

We used to have indoor shows there. It might even make a good winter venue for a cackel fest  Grin

No wait!  Indoor 1/8 mile drags w/mufflers!!  Use that huge concrete area outside the hangers for the runout.

What'a ya think?

Same here.  Really had a good time on Saturday.  I started with VW's when I was 17.  I'll be 59 this week and with the exception of a few years in between, have been involved with VW's for a majority of that time.   I still enjoy it.  Probably helps that my daughter loves them too and attends the events with her VW.

Sorry I couldn't make it Pip, ... prior full time engagement.

LTA's blimp hangers (I assume are still there) are over 1,000 ft. long X 300 ft. wide with the doors shut.  Hmmm?

Phil, The LTA Hangars are still there although I've heard stories that one will be torn down.  What use to be open land is now covered with Town Homes, Condos and a Shopping Center.  I remember when we first came to SoCal and lived in Santa Ana you could drive down Main St and when you got to Warner there was nothing except land and to your left the two huge hangars.  FYI;  They are the largest wooden structures in the world.
