hey guys,
for breakin, in installed the outer springs only,
now the engine is in the car and i want to add the inner springs.
i bought the schley bro's tool, but there is no fitting for the sparkplug in the kit.
So i cant keep the valves closed.
I remember that the valve locks set themselves in the retainer,
so i am worried i will push the valve in?

I mangled an old spark plug and bought a fitting for an impact wrench and had a friend solder them together. Works like a charm.

Or you can call Berg, maybe they will sell you the plug you need by itself to put air in the chamber. just a thought.

Or buy one of these...money well spent.  Just unscrew the Schrader valve to pressurize a cyl.

or getto, feed in a length of cotton rope through the spark plug hole, (don't loose the end) turn the pulley until the piston pushes the ball of rope agains the valves. voila  Wink  compress the spring.

Cotten rope, good idea! What ever size fits in your hole. Hope all clearances were checked with the iners installed prior to build. I even # them as there is some variation in compressed heights.

i use 10mm (3/8), but any size would work, you need a friend to hold the pulley or when you compress the spring the engine tries to rotate.
