How to get from LAX to Orange County/Laguna Beach???

Hi
I'm planing a trip to Los Angeles in the end of February but I can't figure out how
to get from LAX down to Orange County/Laguna Beach. I could rent a car at LAX
but I'm not sure I would feel like driving after a 15 hours flight.
Shuttle bus, Cab ?? Any ideas??

Where in Laguna Beach are you going?
I've used Primetime Shuttle or Super Shuttle before.

I've used both of those shuttle services and ones like them. We always choose the "town car" service, money well spent after a
long flight/customs & baggage claim. Being a stranger in a strange land is bad enough without having to endure a long multiple
stop van ride. Might as well book a ride with UPS or DHL.
Oh! Almost forgot. Welcome to Calif.

LAX to Laguna Beach (south Orange County) is going to be rather expensive by way of cab. Look into the shuttle or Town Car options as previously suggested. Good luck and post up if you want to meet up with a few of us and maybe hit Cars & Coffee or other car gatherings. Enjoy your trip!

The shuttle bus/town car solution looks nice and convenient.
Fred, we (my wife and me) would love to meet up with some of you local guys
Will visit some shops during our stay in Orange County.
We are planing to stay 4-5 nights in Orange County and the a couple night in Temacula

Consider taking the LAX FlyAway Bus. It's cheap and will drop you guys off right at the Irvine train station. From there you are only a few miles from Laguna Beach. Hop in a cab at the train depot or you can rent a car in Lake Forest or Irvine. If you need more assistance let me know. I can practically spit at the depot from my house. If your luggage is
(REALLY)
light I can possibly pick you guys up with the "Rolling Blackout" and we'll go for a blast in style! BTW Cars and Coffee is only a stones throw from the Irvine train depot.
Heck... we practically must be neighbors. I'm @ Lake Forest and Jeronimo.
I maybe able to help with luggage transport to get our guests a ride in the "Blackout."
I've got a good hook up with Enterprise Rent a Car in Lake Forest... We rent a car pretty much once a month and we get a pretty good rate.

My advice is don't use the Super Shuttle. We used it when visiting Disney when we emigrated from the UK to NZ; we had to wait about 30 minutes unti there was a van that was travelling in the right direction. We then spent 45 minutes travelling in circles around the LAX terminals until the van was full up (the vans are larger than they advertise and so take longer to fill). We then took a huge detour to deliver someone home before heading to Disney. Not great after a 12 hour flight.
Thanks

Rent a car you will need it, and once you get off the flight and in too that warm LA air you will be wide awake, trust me. Most flights arrive in the daytime but flyback over night so going out should be fine.....

Be advised, you'll pay a higher daily rental rate at LAX. The town car service will pick you up just outside the baggage claim, even if your flight is late. Upon your
return, they take you directly to your gate. You won't even have to handle your bags, and no need to go to the rental return site.
It's the next best thing to having friends or family pick you up...good luck

Unfortunately I don't have any relatives in LA, this is the first time in the USA for both me and my wife.
I look into this thread every day and appreciate each and every comment and advice.
We have observed that the car retal fees are considerably higher at LAX than allmost any other
place, even by the same car rental company. We can book and get discounts when booking here
in Denmark. Hertz and Avis are a major player in the Danish rental car market. Our employers even
gives us their discounts to make it even cheaper. A weeks rental fee for 2010 Chevy Impala is
appx $275. A 2010 Ford Mustand convertible $800
. No 48 IDA equipped cars for rent at Hertz
Advice for a nice hotel in a save neighborhood around Orange/Anaheim would be nice.
Still considering whitch is best for relaxation Laguna Beach or Dana Point... We will most likely
be there in week 9-11.
Thank's guys for you advises.

I just ran some numbers from the company I get my cars from... an Impala is closer to $225/wk. and a convertible is around $500/wk.
www.enterprise.com
I rent from the store on Lake Forest Blvd. in Lake Forest. Even though they are all the same company, this one seems to have slightly better prices than the ones around me.
You might try the Double Tree Hotel on City Drive or The Ayres Hotel on Katella Ave. in Anaheim. Both are nice but neither is going to be cheap. Both are within 10 minutes of Disneyland and are near Orange as well.
Laguna Beach is a little more isolated than Dana Point. Laguna may be a little more expensive than Dana.

Only have experience of one hotel; the Howard Johnson which is about 5mins walk from the front gate of Disney. Reasonable price and clean etc. A friend from work stayed there last month and was pleased with it.
It had a fantastic Coral Red '59 in the car park the day after we arrived....thanks to Bill!!

Not sure if you can book it via online from Denmark, but I've had great luck using
http://www.priceline.com
and their "Name Your Own Price Rental Cars" deal.
You will be renting from major rental car companies (Avis, Hertz, Budget, etc) and get to choose the car size and rental location. You pay ahead of time after your winning "bid" is accepted, and it's a relatively quick/easy process.
I get a good corporate rate thrugh my employer and on a recent trip to Orlando, Florida (one of the higher priced car rental cities), the best I could do for a mid-size with my corprate discount was $38/day. I submit a bid for $18/day and got a response that my bid was accepted in less than 2 minutes. We had no problems with the airport pickup or rental as a whole. I've done this three times since then, all with similar discounts and results, in different locations.
NOTE:
My understanding is that Priceline rental cars are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-changeable even if the reservation is not used - check the fine print and/or be sure of the required dates before purchasing.

We will be in the Anaheim/Buena Park area from feb 27 to mar 2. Any gatherings during this time?
