Up until last year, Alan's gearbox used a 4.12 O type R&P with a stock 9 tooth mainshaft and 1.58/1.22 Weddle gears. The superdiff used 10/15 gears, all in a late case and SAW axles. With this he ran into the 11s and did those wheelies.
His latest gearbox uses a G type 3.88 R&P and a 4.11/2.47 Weddle mainshaft, with 1.65/1.31 gears. A Q replaced the superdiff.

Yes it did, I swapped last season. I wanted good disc brakes without all the weight and cost of CSP brakes. I run original VW rotors drilled for the Porsche pattern and BMW 2002 calipers.
Hi,
Could you tell me a bit about the turbo set up,
Looks neat

Hello Lee thanks a lot, the setup is a A.J. Sims Turbo setup which I am really happy
about. No matter what others might tell you, I am very happy with the knowledgeable help and the workmanship of these Turbo systems.
It is a T3 Turbo paired with a Holley 350 carburetor plus a Mallory HyFire ignition with map sensor and boost retard. It is a blast to drive!
Cheers Dom

No, his gears are all pure street gears with stock synchros. 'cause his car is a STREET car, not a race car. That's why he took the huge weight penalty with a Quaife over a spool.

Hi Dom,
Thanks for the info. Like the look of the kit. Are you using the 1600T kit? What times you run with it on the motor (spec)?
I have a mild 1776cc that would respond well to that.

Hello Lee, I have two engines, one was used to get the car street legal in Switzerland, the other is my street/strip motor. The motor I used for getting the car legal is a 1600cc engine with small FI heads with only 32x30mm valves. I installed a Webcam 119 and dual valve springs and chromoly pushrods. That is it... with only 0.4 bar (5.6 PSI) boost it delivered a whopping 121 HP at 5100 rpm. The quarter mile time leaves room for improvement I ran 15.06 with street tires, 8 PSI boost and a whopping 2200 pounds total weight. I weigh 310 lbs myself.... I know I should go on a diet. Currently I am loosing weight for the upcoming season... It is very nice to drive, but I am going to replace the cam with a webcam with an original VW grind. This will the rpm range to below 5000rpm and make the turbo more responsive.
My engine for this coming season is a 1915cc with piston squirters, the proper LBC2 cam and a better ignition system. I hope to scratch the 200HP mark with a bid more boost...this and a little less weight should improve my quarter mile time this year.
Your 1776 will love the turbo treatment. Just keep in mind not to over cam your engine and keep the CR low. 7.5:1 will do.
Cheers Dom

Yes, it's solid mounted. He only uses a rear engine support bar and a forward trans mid mount.
