1957lowlight, I really like your car. Did you remove the 1300 badge on the decklid? Also, what color is it? Very nice looking car.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the nice comment on my car! The engine is now a 1915cc scat parts motor with Scat mini D-port heads, Eagle 120, Italian 48 IDA's, Bosch 010, dynomax exhaust with S&S and it runs great on the street. We allways drive to shows all over Europe so the street action is more inportant to me than the strip action.
DKK Fred: I have two engine decklids: An normal one with the 1300 sign on it, but 11 years ago I bought a convertable decklid and that one has no sign.
I like the 1967 model a lot and I agree that it is a good base for a callooker, but 65-66 models are also very nice as a start and it makes me happy to see that other people loves this model too!
In 1997 when my car was just finished, the callookscene was very low at that time. DAS was coming up with some nice cars, like Pat's Beryl green ragtop on BRM's(still on the strip today!!!), Kobus' 1964 sunroof sedan inported from the USA with real BRM's and lot's of Empi stuff (he still owns the car today) and the twin's had there 1963 turkish green beetle witch was stolen later on (we all regred it up till today as it was an owesome car) and of course Ffred's 1957 big window beetle who was the first with a stroker motor I guess. Those were the days....

Very nice... do you have any plans to install a 1300 badge on the convertible 'lid? Either that one or the VW1300 would look great on your car.

I don't think so. The vert lid is still in very good chape after 11 years of good care with the paint, so I don't want to drill holes in it.

Here is my 66 Chop at an American Street Car show. It is going through a transformation right now with some different mods. This is what it looked like at the last show I went to.

posted this pic before a month or so ago....owe thanks to stealth67 Bates and kafercup for it. Bryan Wenzel's 1965 Bug at Sacramento raceway 1997... guess it is more of a "pre cal look" car with its 356-style wheels and stock height. At this time the car had a hot 1700 motor with Heads Up Perf heads and 40mm Webers. Car was all orig until Bryan (only) added big motor and trans. Rest of car was as VW built it.

Here's a pic of my 66, which is officially known as the "Hooptie". I bought it at a local auto auction looking like a total piece of crap. About 14 months later it looked like this.
The car was driven as it looks above for 16 months and then I dropped the reliable little 1776 in favor of a nice stout 2276 with 48 IDFs. Heck, a lot of you were over my place for the Vegas Pre Event BBQ when we stuck it in and started it up! I must admit, the car is a lot more fun now! I've got a whole gallery on the build up if you care to see it. Scot Faivre
