Fitting CSP AVIS adjusters

I'll soon be pulling my beam apart for this.  Somewhere I saw mention of heating and reshaping the dimples rather than drilling them out.  Has anyone done this; is it just the back dimples that need reshaping?

I cut them all out and filled them. Also had to fill a bit of the front ones that the adjuster did not cover.

The other way is to heat the dimples nearly white hot and use a BFH and a pipe to push the centre piece along past the dimples, pushing the tube flat as it goes. Cut, weld and fill is much prettier.

Why is cut/fill prettier?  Does the heating method look a bit of a mess afterwards; I have to get the final result certified (to meet our local laws) so it will need to look good!

The dimples don't push out evenly, looks a bit like a crinkle cut potato chip in the dimple area. When the dimples are pressed into the beam the metal stretches, when you beat it out again it doesn't shrink.
