1970 Body.
Fully powder coated rolling chassis
Frame head has been removed and king and link pin beam (narrowed) has been welded on with the equivilant of 3 sets of castor shims.
8 point roll cage (inc. tieing in the rear frame horns) by Jon Rathbone Racing. Cage is tagged to 10.00. It's cds not moly.
Fibreglass flip front
Fibreglass rear wings
Rear spolier Big Wig
Steel doors.
Lexan windows all round. (Drivers & passengers wind up / down).
Empi race seat
Simpson harness & window net
Autometer tach c/w oil pressure warning light.
Shift light
Autometer boost guage
Autometer oil pressure guage
Electronic line lock.
Staging brake
Rear wheels - Ercos with phoenix 6'' slicks
Front wheels - Offset ercos with M and H front runners
Front discs (standard 4 lug VW set up)
Rear brakes - Type 3 rear drums.
Adjustable spring plates on rear.
Uprated torsion bars (not sure of size, but definately not stock)
Rear shocks/springs GAZ
Holley blue fuel pump
Race style plastic / abs fuel cell.
Braided fuel hoses run through car.
Goodrich style braided brake lines throughout


Bespoke type 25 aircooled box built at Bears.
3.33 x 1.93 mainshaft set
1.18 third gear set
0.82 fourth gear
chromoly super diff
chromoly diff housing side cover
9T racing spider gears
input shaft to suit T1 crank
Bears 091 conversion gear carrier
modified type 1 shift housing
091 to 113 weldin intermediate mounting
002 early clutch housing to suit type 1 starter motor

Comes with Bears own bullet proof drive shafts. I have mounted them with second hand 944 cv joints just for mock up.

84mm x 94mm
84mm Bugpack crank - flanged crank fully balanced.
New aluminium case Full flowed, etc.
Rods - Scat 5.7" 'H' beams c/w ARP rod bolts.
Kennedy stage 2 clutch
4 puck
Scat gland nut
94mm second hand autocraft barrels and new Wiseco pistons .
Heads a pair of AJ Sims prepped heads.
Super flow Pro Heads
Berg thick 48mm intake seats with 40mm exhaust seats, Chamber volume 69.8cc, Titanium Inlet valve (48mm) stainless 40mm
Ti Manley retainers, Manley .05"drop keepers,
re-cut pushrod tube surface angle to seal, Cut and set up for K800 springs, Bore 94mm ,Turbo use for over 700hp. Can run up to .720" lift at the valve. All Work and Hand Porting is by A.J.Sims.
Camshaft LBC5.0ProOnly cam is matched with the heads including AJs lifters
The winners choice when it comes to real HP numbers. Main RPM power range 4,000 to 8,000.
Scat pro comp 1.4:1 ratio rockers
Moly cut to length push rods
Spring loaded FAB push rod tubes
Scat rocker covers c/w breather pipes
Scat deep sump c/w welded stainless pick up tube
CSP billet sump plate
shadek oil pump.
Straight cut cam gear
JayCee degree'd pulley wheel
MSD billet dizzy
MSD 6al turbo control box with boost retard
MSD blaster 2 coil
MSD 8mm plug leads
Holley 750 carb with percy adjust a jet on primary and secondary
Turbo dynamics T3/T4 hybrid turbo by Ron Lummus
Ceramic system by Ron Lummus.
Billet waste gate

Compression ratio = 8:1
Rotating assembly was fully balanced by local engine re-conditioner.

The motor has never been fired as I intended to disassemble and check main bearing alignment with lub hole on number 1.

Power unknown but it has serious potential as the heads are very close to the Red Barons (bugpack head) motor.

A few jobs are needed to finish
1 Go over the engine
2 Check suspension geometry
3 Bled brakes
4 Two supports to fabricate to attach top of gearbox to the roll cage
5 Fabricate cover for shift housing interior

Car weighs 1500lbs (ish)

All in £12000

The car is now in a different league though, the attention to detail, specification and finish are stunning

If someone wanted to put it back to how it was in its heyday (not that I can see why they would - it looks great as it is right now!), I spoke to Jim Bowen not too long ago and he still had the motor out of Betelguese in his loft.

Great car Pete, hope it ends up somewhere deserving!

Gearbox including axles £3000 brand new with Bears guarantee

Heads £2000. Cam without lifters £100.

Ron Lummus turbo kit £1500
Cermanic on the manifold is slightly damaged.Turbo has been stripped and inspected by www.turbodynamics.co.uk
and was found to be new. Comes with turbo MSD


I am away to work abroad on Wednesday  Will be checking advert every day.
