Thanks Tom!

The Carillo rods were for bragging!  The small weight gain won't make a lot of difference for a street engine.

I would bet that your Pauter rods are their standard 30-40-50+ LBS of boost rods.  You can specify "light" and don will ask what your going to use them for then they take a little more off. Geers had/has a nice set of 5.300" lightweight pauters on samba for like $750 brand new.

Also, I have a set of Porsche journal 5.600" Pauters that weigh in at 595g, whereas the 5.500" Carrillos I have are 512g. I don't think .100" will make up the 83g difference. Wink

Cut out 0.100” of a Pauter rod and then let us know the result  Grin Grin

Interestingly, Carrillos can also be ordered light!

More inventory checking revealed 2 sets of 5.7 Carrillos:
1st - Chevy (2.000") journal, 543g
2nd - Porsche journal, light - 504g Shocked pretty nice for a 5.7" rod!

Think I'll keep 'em  Wink

Yes, they are for maximum power generated.
I inquired to Don about lightening these, but he estimated only about 20g could be removed.
I guess the key is to ORDER them light! Not much can be done afterwards ...

The new pauters with the smaller bolts have nearly the same weight than the carrillos
