Just found this pic in my girlfriends family photo album. It shows her uncle Levern somewhere in France, just after D-Day.
He lies eternally young in a Normandy military cemetery.   Some gave a little, Some gave everything, All gave something.

I had the pleasure of taking my parents to Normandy in '97 for their 50th anniversary. My dad went in on Utah on D-Day+2. While he lived in France for several years after the war, he had never been back until then.
