Form follows fit even in a casual shoe. If the shoe matches your Last and looks good to your eye then buy it. By the way, what do a pair of bespoke shoes cost now days?

I wear shoes for school and that's it - trainers the rest of the time! Even up to the day before my wedding I was going to wear trainers (I'd bought some new ones especially! They went well with the jeans I'd bought for the big day...) but then bought a new pair of shoes at the last minute under protest! I have to dress smart for school so I refuse when I'm "off duty"!

Holy balls! And I thought $125 back in 1991 for Air Jordans was expensive...

£2000 - £3000 depending who makes them. Ouch! I wish my grandfather was still alive as he was a trained cordwainer. If you're ever in the States look into the Allen Edmonds line of foot wear. Very nice quality and reasonably priced by current exchange rates.

Ya know it's funny, not trying to hijack the thread, But my brother worked at a shoe store. Floresheim, before they closed, alot of the shoe's he purchased, i know were upwards of 500.00 or more. And for a fact he had a couple thousand in his closet which, which for me at the time i thought was wasting his money. But anyway not to disrespect anyone i just seen the shoes and was the first thing that came to mind.

But anyway not to disrespect anyone i just seen the shoes and was the first thing that came to mind. When I worked for Howard Still in the La Habra store, close to Sarge's house, we had a pair of British Walkers that were a special order and the customer never came back to pay the balance and take delivery. They were Aligator in dark brown with Shell Cordovan black leather saddles and rear.
The shoes were 1/2 size to small form my foot but somehow I talked Mr. Still into selling me them CHEAP. That was a feat in itself as he sold nothing "cheap", not even to employees. I guess he figured he would never sell them so he took my offer. Everytime I wore them they looked great but my toes were paying the price. I had those shoes for years and I think new they were about $800 back in the late '60's. It was the only pair I've ever seen.

All this talk of quality shoes wets my appetite for a new pair that I don't need But what I do need are new socks and that means "Thorlos", pricey? yes..but! They outlast the cheapie stuff about 5-1. And they feel great, especially in those expensive dress shoes IMHO (well, maybe not to humble). http://www.thorlo.com/
