steel cage vs plastic cage gear bearings

i found some steel cage bearings, anyone knows what year of gearbox they come from?

i know the later ones use plastic cage. dimensions look the same, steel ones have slightly longer rollers though.

dint manage to get that many though. plenty plastic ones.

would it be beneficial if i use the steel ones instead of the plastic ones when i rebuild my box?

The steel cage bearings are early, plastic are late.  I can't remember when the change happened, maybe 67-68???
Everyone prefers the steel cage bearings because of the longer rollers.  It should reduce any rock the gear may have.
When I build a gearbox to be used with a stock engine, I put in the plastic cage bearings.  If there's a big engine, it gets steel cage bearings.
