Hey guys, tomorow I'm gonna pick up my new ride, being my 4th VW I own : a 60 Ragtop with semaphores, found about 10kms from where I live.

It is complete despite a torn ragtop canvas, broken windshield and driver glass, wrong rear lights (I should receive a pair of good used ones next wext), wrong headlight glasses and a few other things but nothing bad.

I also get an extra engine, bumpers, wings and other parts for a very, very reasonnable price, I'll post pictures tomorow as soon as it's in the garage. The only thing is that it's got german papers, so I need to sort this out.

Needless to say it's gonna go the full Look : dechromed body, one piece window, Lucas indicators...

No it's not a tach it's a 6 volts Type 3 clock.

I need to have a closer look at the boxes full of parts, so I can make a list of what I've been given.

Empicolector, I found it in Noisy le Grand, near Arcades shopping center for 1000€.

Today I received the birth certificate :

I'm just back from the garage and I noticed a few things :

- the front sliding roof bar is bent,

- the left semaphore cover is damaged,

- there's some rust here and there but nothing serious,

- the electrical system is a complete mess,

and I'm sure I'll find more surprises in the day light  Grin

By the way I'm looking for a 58 to 61 'vert deckllid but not a $700 one  Wink if any of you can help...

Can anyone tell me if the M107 option means that it had european bumpers with guards or if it was with US bumpers?

Cheers

Dose the car have overrider holes in the front apron? or rear fenders?  Most European  Cars  had the USA bumpers and front turn signals added when brought in to the U.S.A.

[/quote]

No but I suspect the front apron has been changed as I can see some filler in the spare wheel compartment, and no holes in the rear fenders either, so I guess it's gotta be euro bumpers with euro guards as it was destined to the German market.

Anyway, that doesn't really matter as I'm gonna fit 'non welded' chrome t-bars  Grin

Anyone of you bought decklids from Dr. Decklid (on the samba)? I sent him an e-mail last week but no replies so far...  Sad
Moreover I'm not sure he'll be OK to ship a decklid from San Diego to France, due to the size and shipping cost.

The best would be that a Lounger from So-Cal would buy such a decklid and I'll pay him for all the expenses  Cheesy
I know, I'm a bit of a dreamer sometimes  Grin

I spoke with him back before the classic about doing a vert lid for my '67. He wanted $400 which was probably reasonable. I have just decided to go in a different direction.

If I do anything other than stock it will be a metal empi style deck lid. I saw a version on a '67 I really liked. Course if a real '67 vert declid fell into my lap that might change.
