Just throwing this out there... I know one of the turbo town cars has come very close, but has it been done? Cheers, Matt

I suspect you know this one from the all time top racers list its not sub 1700cc but only another 76cc and it was 16 years ago so certainly deserves a mention!
Mika Mansukoski Finland 9.777 214.830 1776ccm T1 Alastaro, Finland May, 1996
I thought it was a typo when I first read it!
Don't forget Brian H's G dragster too which runs well into the 9's but I suspect you were thinking in a car, well worth a mention again though, and not forgetting is n/a too!
See you soon I hope,
Peter

Yeah, Mika's car was certainly fast, but as you point out it was 'big' cc
I would love to see a 10,000 rpm turbo 1699cc or lower. Just imagine buzzing up there with the rice burners
That would be awesome!

If you go back in time to the late 1970's the fastest drag beetle in the world ran into the 9's at over 140mph.
Bob McClure's "Little Leroy" was reported to be 1700cc engine.

as 92 arent actually 92mm then 91.95x64=1700cc
perfect
amazing times for what was available back then
Pete you know what you got to do next
cheers richie

The piston is 91.95, the cylinder is still 92
Very impressive times.

Richie... 91.95 bore computes to: 1,700.15933 cc, so is not sub 1700
Close, but no cigar

So if I bore the cylinder say 0.5mm more does the engine size go up if i am still with the same 91.95mm piston?[yes I know if would have awfull ring seal if i did that, but it is 92s we are taling about
],and who knows what they were actually using back then for pistons and cylinders, custom stuff for sure
cheers richie

The 91.95 piston grows into the 92 bore with heat and effectively increases the cc the hotter it gets. Also, the cylinder expands, albeit at a lesser rate, so the cc I guess is constantly changing according to temperature. Only by minuscule amounts though. A constant variable. I guess for the purpose of argument the cylinder bore at room temp is the standard to measure cc. Any other measure would be subjective...

If you follow the manufacturers standards, then a 1641 would be a 1600. and a 1776 would be 1800.... So easy a 1700!!
OR.. he could reduce the combustion chamber with 1 cc. and be done with it..........
