Anyone interested here in Land Speed Racing?
In the US there is the Bonneville, Texas mile, Mojave mile etc. In Australia there is lake Gairdner but in Europe there is no place to run for Top speed, weather in one of the 36hp Challange classes or with 'big block' VW engine (any type 1 or 4 aircooled).
So I though to look out for a place to ru, but it seems no where such an event is held in europe... safe for one or two high dollar - sometimes invitational only - events like the Moscow mile.

But... I seem to have found a place in England (Elvington airbase near York, just 30 miles from the ferry in Hull) where there are scheduled 1-mile and 1.4 mile top speed events and we may get a date with them in 2013 if interest is there!

For those not knowing what the 36hp Challenge is:

So, for all you topspeed and especially Vintage Speed lovers: who would be up for this?

Cheers,
Walter
