Out of the blue i get an email from a guy living in California.

He has tracked me down via the samba and needs help with an issue of VW trends(May 1984).

Luckily for him I have a spare in prefect condition and now its flying through the air on the way to him as a gift.  Why is he interested in this issue?

Well the blonde in the red bikini is his girlfriend.

This is what he told me:

"My gf is not a VW fan per say but she likes all cars. She was a KROQ bikini girl, a famous radio station in LA. And the
magazine contacted her to be in the shoot. Her name is Kara and she is referenced on the inside of the magazine, I think
she said page 4 or something. Back then her last name was Giddens. She still lives in LA.

The only VW she had was a new beetle convertible a few years back, but I had a 60 and 64 ghia. They are long
gone now, but I had some great times in that car.

The blonde in the white bikini was the the organizer of the shoot, and she is now married to Dr. Drew, a tv personality.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drew_Pinsky He helps do crap reality tv and all that stuff. Has a chat show on the radio as well."

That is a cool story. Susan Sailer, the girl in the white Bikini, met Drew Pinsky at a bar in Laguna Beach, he asked her out, she declined as she had a bpyfreind.  Dr. Drew was also on KROQ (or K-Rock as well all call it) during the 80's while still in med school doing a segment on Poorman's show called "Ask a Doctor", or something like that, which later combined with another K-Rock show called Loveline that eventually went national and launched him into MTV along with Adam Carolla. Susan went to work at KROQ doing their Bikini Fashion Shows and they started dating, Kara was one of the models.   The other big celebrity to come out of that group was "Jimmy the Sports Guy" who everyone knows better now as Jimmy Kimmel and Carson Daly who was Jimmy's intern.
