Life's too short, so drop a bomb on it....

WWW
« on: October 15, 2012, 14:18:55 pm »

Hi guys,

I'm Clarkey and new to the 'Cal Look Lounge'... I've been told about this forum and wanted to join to get more advice etc on my car.

So a little about it, I bought it on return of my 2nd tour of afghan last year and been spending cash on it sine lol... which doesn't help when your being your 1st house Shocked.

Well its been playing with my mind for a while and joined VWDRC for 2013 season for a bit fun... So on that note i managed to get 2 sponsors and got loads of prep work to do over the winter ready for the pre-season meet in march.

1st sponsor - Accuspark, i've been testing there vw ignition parts over the last year and very happy with them and you can't beat the price... So im running there performance coil, ht leads, plugs, dizzy with electric ignitoin kit and rev limiter. more to come in the year...
www.accuspark.co.uk

2nd sponsor - GM Bodycraft, Gary is a friend of mine and has some real nice work on old to late cars and check his facebook page on the 55 camper he has just restored...
He will be looking after me on body mods, paint and roll cage and more.
www.gmbodycraft.co.uk

Thats the info on the car sponsors and now the spec, plans etc...

I'm keeping the car street trim with the 'cal look' drag racer theme with the stance, cage etc... I'm hoping to run late 13's into low 13's by the end of 2013 with the mid season plan to use NOS (well 25hp-50hp worth lol) Grin.

Here's some pictures...

Thanks for looking and more too come........enjoy Shocked

Welcome to The Lounge Clarkey! I like the way you have spent your hard earned cash  Smiley

Please tell us more about your engine plans and nitrous. I have been using nitrous for a couple of years now with great succes and I do believe you should set your goals higher than a low 13.

So playing around where to mount the NOS bottle. I have 50hp shot of nitrous going into the motor to get me into the low 13's!

All this done by 1.30pm, goto be happy with that! just vw performance engines are a hate/love relationship with al the pumbing lol...

I think i've sorced all my parts to make up the new 8mm fuel lines

New 8mm fuel line fitted in the car today (after my quick call to Rob!) all mounted with p-clips,

And the new fuel pump mounted, wired and plumbed in Cheesy

Made these for the dash at GM Bodycraft, really happy how they turnt out!

More to come Grin

Is it permitted within MSA regulations to have fuel lines within the passenger compartment of the vehicle now?

Only reason I ask, is that it wasn't when I last raced in 2006 and am curious to know if the regulations have changed since then. Smiley

Hi Nice looking car, but as a side note if you are going to keep the nitrous bottle in side the car you will need a blow off valve and down tube to the out side of the car, otherwise you will be knocked back by the scrutineers. Bernie

Hi Guy's

Well just a little update on the car as it stands so far... building up a date to be ready by Bug Jam for its 1st outting on the track Cheesy.

Well the gearbox parts are still at 'Bears Motorsport' having a few mods done and ordering the parts i need.

Em all the tubing will be ordered next friday, So as soon as the box is back! i'll fit it upto the car again and it will make its way to GM Bodycraft for the cage fit, removable rear end and paint.

Then its time to finsh the build, order any last bits i need... Will be looking to sort the heigh out 'all round' hopefuly with Judges help  and a few other little tweaks.

As it stands theres a delay on my 'Porsche fan shroud' coming from the states so will look to get the car all set up on the rolling road and once its here and i mock up all the lines i'll fit the NITROUS...

See you all soon......... Cheesy

Todays work on the car as Gary was working on his mk1 (which is sick!),

So i finished cleaning up the Hi-pac's, repaired the inner wings and cut out the rear valance to fit the new one on dzus pins.

Have to admit, really happy with my work as i fitted the removable valance and Gary welded it up.

And last thing is Accusparks new 'programable ignition box with locked out 009 dizzy' for this years racing. Looking forward to getting this motor set up on the dnyo!!!

Well Guy's that's my 8 weeks leave done and now heading back to my back to wales (back most weekends) so should get the bug finsihed for Bug Jam 'I HOPE LOL....'

So car is in 'prep' at GM Bodycraft with the car ready for primer this week and full paint the week after. Had some ups and downs but its really coming togehter and done most job's myself, which i'm really happy with.

On the note of good things, My gearbox parts are finaly at Accspark for Mick to do the rebuild fo i'll have that in 2 weeks.

My is going to GAC Motorsport to see Alan for a full set-up, dyno run and programing my ignition with Accusparks NEW kit. Maybe some other upgrades aswell, But not telling lol...

Last bits is the Nitrous bottle warmer kit, purge kit, saftey blow off valve and extras are on route from the USA and hope to have my long awaited 'porsche fan shroud' BOOM Cheesy

Here's some pictures as that's the good part lol....
