Actually I believe he actually ran the first NA 10's in the bug before the Schley Brothers,
although the chop top was technically not NHRA legal, due to the wind screen angle, it still ran the numbers!
Pretty impressive NA for 1972.

Peter Keegan here in Australia was the first Bug of any class to ever run in the 10s
with a supercharged 2180, earlier the same year.
