My Beetle is the first car I ever had, and owned it since then (17-42!) although it was mostly off road.
I was doing it up just to probably sell her on, my eldest Jay too easily talked me into a colour change(I'm a painter!), and about that time I had a change in circumstance and was able to get a nice engine for her and race it, I've lived within earshot of Santa Pod most of my live, so always loved drag racing. So when the car was finished in 2009 with fastfugitive's(jamie) old 1914 turbo engine I signed up for the VWDRC (quite possibly the best move I've ever made!) - at that point I'd never actually put anything up the 1/4.
2010 saw my times drop from 15's to very early 13, think I ended the season with a 13.01 PB or something like that - I wanted to run a proper pro time as that was what I was racing in.
2011 I had started up my own business (WRP Paint & Restoration) so didn't race much only did 2 rounds but saw a new pro time PB 12.3something that came completely out of the blue at VW Action!
2012 saw race weight ercos and slicks, and a silly error on my part that had split a couple of barrels fixed I did 6 rounds in the VWDRC finished 4th in the championship and a cool new PB of 11.85
