Hi
I've been a fan of Cal Look for about 25 years now, but most of my VWs have been l stock with a little lowering job at the front.  So far I've never had the money for the engine and the wheels!

Its been a wrench, but after 7 years of driving it daily my '63 Notch has now gone, ready for me, my wife and children to move from the UK to New Zealand.  Hopefully I'll find a Bug there....

Anyway, on the way we are stopping off at Disney, Anaheim from the 18th to 24th August.  Can any of you with local knowledge let me know if there are any VW cruises/meets taking place during that time that we would be able to get to easily.  We're not planning on hiring a car so can't travel far.  Also, my wife and kids aren't going to be too happy to be dragged around LA to look at VWs!  However, if it is a cruise or something similar I'd probably get away with it!!

Thanks
Richard

I don't know of any events taking place during that time, however there are many nearby shops around Disneyland. Gene Berg Ent. Heads Up ,FAT perf. Lenny Copp's West Coast Classic's are all within a 5 mile or so range.  The DKP cruise nights are the 1st Sun. of the month. If you can go a little later & rent a car the Sacramento Bugorama would be a must see. Hope this helps  Bill

Bill
Thanks for the thoughts and advice.  Unfortunatley our timescales are set; we have to get to New Zealand in late August to have time to look at schools, houses etc before I start my new job at the start of September!  However, we'll see if we can get out and about to some of those shops/specialists you mention.

Many thanks

Jim
If you knew the months of soul searching this has all taken!!!

Our move from the UK, where we have all our family, with our 3 children to New Zealand has been a hard decision but one that we are looking forward to!  Almost as hard was selling the notch, which was a very solid original uk right hand drive car (with a good history; it'd been to Africa in '64).  But we know it'll be worth it....I think what I was trying to say that whilst I've wanted to get to California to chase VWs since I was 13 (and I was 40 last week), New Zealand has now become much more important to us!  So we HAVE to keep to the timescales we've set ourselves (and that my new employer is expecting.....)

...Hey, Disney will be fun and hopefully I'll manage to see some VWs as well, but the ultimate aim of our journey will be met when we step off the Plane in Auckland.

Thanks for the interest
regards
Richard
