Jamar Ali beam, any good?

Hi Guys,
Looking for any real life experience with a Jamar linkpin Ali front beam.
Do they save a lot of weight? Do they handle as well as a steel beam? (Flex)
Any other info would be great....

Pete Shattock, Andy Marriot & Lucas all use them on the street. Pete & Phil have them therefore they must be a weight saving! :d

Hi Ben,
Knew a few outlaws ran them, just wondered what they were like out the box or whether they needed work to improve them.

Hi Lee, there is a weight saving Phil will know how much...
There are also a few things to watch out for too.
The bushes in the beam don't fit the arms very well and you might like to consider making new ones. Paul Woodhead has the material you need.
Be careful not to over tighten the steering box as it will prevent that arm from moving freely.
If you run castor shims you will need to make new blocks to attach the beam with holes at the right angle.
The weight saving is good but needless to say its at the wrong end of the car so you might like to put something like the battery up front to get the weight where you want it.
Mine is narrowed 50mm so it was tight on the inner wings but I've used incerts in the beam tower so there is no need for a nut on the back which has been trouble free.

Otherwise I've had no problems with them on the street.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the reply. Seems there's a little bit of work to do on them. May look at other ways to save a few kg's...

We ran one for a season on Daniel Kurtzmans super gas car. It cracked twice so steel went back on.
