Flat 4 Eliminator Shifter

Hi guys,
I just bought a Flat 4 eliminator shifter for my '64 bug. Problem is that when I fit it, I can't turn my heaterknob anymore. Does anyone of you have more experience with these shifters? Or maybe a solution?
