those were south african wheels  fitted on  south african bug it was a special edition

The South African "Sprintstars", Rostyles or whatever you want to call them were fitted to a lot of 70's South African beetles. Not only special editions.
The most common size is 15x4,5" but they were also available in 15x5,5 and 14" sizes. I'm pretty sure the yellow car pictured with trim rings has 14" wheels.

Yeah, makes them look even more like Magnum 500's. And the 14" wheels and big tires give the car that  "what makes Herbie cool" look  Wink
