That was still mot'd when I bought it... How many people of a certain age got into dubs because of that car??? I reckon the list is long and distinguished I was at college at the time and remember seeing it as the cover car on Street Machine magazine in a local magazine store and my jaw dropped in wonder. I had never seen a Cal Look styled bug before and after reading the article over and over and memorizing the pics etc, I knew what I had to do to my poor old 72 Marina Blue stock 1300...... The Inspirational bug that set me on the path. Glad to hear it's still around and going to be restored. Cheers Shane.

Good to see it is going to be restored, it has to be the most influential, UK, car of the '80s. And probably responsible for all the late model bugs being fitted with long bonnets and 'W' decklids

It had the 17's on it along with the world worst attempt at a narrowed beam when I bought it , actually had 18's on it too which I was offered with it, may have had a big sound system at one point but there was no sign of one - no cut door panels etc.

its fair sto say that when kevd had it it run and when i got it from kevd he has stolen all the steering parts..... we had to keep moving it on trolly jacks, anyway now its been saved from the hands of death Mr Dawson !!!! and will see the great light in the sky again, mainly due to volksworlds 25th mag which remined me how good it was and why it would be great again now..... Best Cal look at EBI 5 ?

In the feature it shows a single quiet pack exhaust, but in that picture at the pod it looks like dual mufflers or are my eyes deceiving me?

Yep that my pic! I had the choice of the 17's or 18's.. It drove badly enough on the 17's I wouldn't want to have tried the bigger wheels

This makes me feel real old......I was in the same class in school as Colin, last saw him about 15 years back at a school re-union.Told him I was thinking of building another Cal Looker....and he laughed.Lot of years and a lot more money later,he would probably still laugh and call me a silly old f*^t
