I've been offered some 42 dcnf Berg specials and I do not know for sure how to tell if they are truly 42 berg specials - I do not have any pic's of them as it was dark and the only thing I know for sure about the carbs is that the 42 dcnf was grinded off and that's it...Are there any other sign's for me to look for so I can make my mind up on purchasing them. The guy swear's up and down that they are 42 berg specials...I know they run well because he's constantly hauling ass down my street every day with these carbs on them. HELP

I believe one way to tell is with the Air Filter mount holes. Factory is 5mm. Berg taps them out to 6mm.

Ed, also the air-mixture screw have a nut pressed on them for easier adjustment, I'll e-mail Mark V. at bergs and ask him.

Hey Randy, no, there is more, what mark does is redrill some of the circuits which makes them work good, my brother-in-law had set done by Mark at Bergs. But the obvious is what is mentioned above, to ID Berg Specials.

I got them and the guy only wanted to trade me for a pair of wide 5 wheels and he was a happy camper and so was I. He gave them to me complete w/ the linkage and the manifolds and he even put new gaskets etc... for me...Don't have a motor for them but sure would like to use them...Can I put them on a stock 1600 or would it best to put them on a big boy motor such as (suggestion's please) [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I have 42's on a relatively mild motor and love them. They are smooth and maintenance free, plus they sound great. My all time favorite carbs.

I ran Berg 42 specials on a type three 1776, loved them. Put the same carbs on a bone stock 1600 type three (removed the fuel injection) and they were still great.

Can the linkage I have in my picture be used on my type 3 motor (pancake) since I removed this from an upright motor ?? Or is there a specific gene berg type 3 linkage I have to use ?

that is a type 1 linkage(upright), you will need to locate a berg type3 linkage, which has not been available for years, but I'm guessing you will be able to find a set. or you can put a CSP center pull

I used CSP on my type 3. I used the style that is intended for a 911 shroud on a type 1 engine, it mounts the bell crank on the case towards the front (flywheel side) of the engine. Buttery smooth!!

I thought it would be different...so the only difference is the center pull....Hmmm...anyone have a pic of an original berg type 3 linkage ?so I know what to look for ?

It's nice to hear that Mark is still modifying the carbs. I have a NOS set of 42DCNF9s that I should have modified.
