Malibu, of course. One of the most fun filled waves I've ever surfed.

This followed me home today -- tried to shake it loose on several occasions but it was still there when I pulled into the drive way

NICE!

At first I thought, nice ghia, then I noticed the cage, and the window support.

Tell us more.

Found this in a little town of Payson AZ (about an 800 mile round trip, it was a lot of driving yesterday LOL) -- it's a '70 Ghia - has been setting for over 12 years -- Former road racer but still street legal -- 12 point cage in it everything tied together and stiffened -- I believe it was a feature car in VW Trends in August '97 (would like to get a copy of that magazine if it is the right one) -- has a 901 trans in it -- got some extra high ratio gear sets for 4th and 5th -- disc brakes all around -- Figured it make a perfect toy to check off one of my bucket lists of going to the salt this year (wanting to compete in the 150 mph street class at WOS in Sept) -- Has some ouchs here and there, only the one on the drivers door really bothers me -- going to put the 2919 into it and go play

I have all the glass for it but I'm needing all the mounting stuff for the rear pop out windows if anyone has any of this stuff laying around and would like to sell it to me I would appreciate it Thanks Harold

I remember that car very well.  I used to love to talk with Greg about what he was doing with the car.  When I first had my stock transaxle rebuilt by Bill Capatch Greg was still working there.  Later on he moved to Payson.  ...So did you buy the car from Greg Sayers?  If so how is he doing.  He was a pretty cool guy!

While my memory is pretty good I did have to jog it a little by checking out the August '97 VW Trends article just to confirm that it was the same car.  Thanks for posting and keep the updates coming...!

Just a fantastic collection of photos.  My brain is kinda fuzzy but DAMN I remember a LOT of those cars for some odd/wierd reason.  Really cool.

And the BEST!!!!  Two of our own in one pic.  Yes, DKK Lisa's yellow split, and guess who's sitting on the right.  Yes again, a Mr. Rick Meredith (DKK Rick) who looks to have driven past the barber shop many many many times.  And it looks like Lisa behind him.  HAH!  AWESOME.  Nice hair dude.

You both look so much the same as then now.  Neither of you has changed one bit.  Yeah, me either. ha  Beautiful.

P.S. I really dug on seeing the pics of the very young Berg brothers in that Flicker collection.  And yes it was, in my opinion the PINNACLE of the Cal Look at Bug In 25 thru 27.  Mike Martinez' black chop top, seemed like almost everyone knew someone with a race car, 8 spokes color matched, chromies and caps, sick to see so many OG alloys (Fuchs sorry, no Im not sorry I still call them alloys) all of them more than likely stolen or found extremely cheap.  Great friggin pictures.  Thanks to whomever found that.  And someone has to post a LOT of those somewhere here on this site.  And the blue Darth Vader rapist van pic (a definate favorite).

Out.

Cool to see the pic of Rick and Lisa.  I was SO friggin skinny back then I probably didnt make enough of a reflection to BE in any shots.
