Its a DKW with front-wheel drive two-cylinder two-stroke engine , seen them before but this ones got it for me I read the article about it in Hayburner, and saw it at the Volksworld show. Everyone has been raving about it but it does absolutely nothing for me.

Unless I am missing something, there are none, except for the fact that DKW became part of VW in the sixties which has nothing to do with this model.

my new project in front of the old VW dealership where my parents always used to buy there cars from. Anyone know the name of this old dealer? It's an easy one. Looks like a great project! Good luck with it. I believe that was Meltebeke VW back in the day............

Of course. I'd be surprised if VW would've left 'em in the shot. They were either removed in the editing room or in the real world. Cool that they used his car for that, though. Saw that ad a week or two elsewhere.

Here is a panoramic I took at the local dealership with my phone the other night. No where near as cool as the one above. The new bugs are huge when a real bug is parked next to them.

We never went anywhere Tom! It is a fairly small group, most of them are in OFF but still wear their giant killers stickers! There are a few non outlaw giant killers me being one of them. If you really want to know more you should speak to Ian (wps) or pete (Cogbox). Hope that helped? Matt

That's my car on the far left around 1986. Had friends over working on their cars (I had a garage). This is one of those rare occasions when it rained in Phoenix.

The photo is a little fuzzy. I just found some old ones and I thought some of you might recognize this fellow. I used to bug him (pun intended) all the time about bringing back the 5-speed conversion. On this day I did the same thing. His answer was always the same. "When there is enough demand I will do it." Well I waited a few years, but I have had mine for about 20 years now...

that light blue 67 is Ben salazar's car ,it seems that vw removed the dkp stickers Yea. That's my piece. They removed them in the post editing. Some thing about the logo looking similar to a old German Social club's symbol. Was a cool experience to have the car shot for the ad. Thank to Ron Fleming for putting me in contact with Sacha Mehn, who aside from working for the ad agency is also a VW enthusiast. It's a trip to see my car in an official VW print add.

Awesome duet! I like the glass etching too which seems to be a lost art. I still have my side quarter windows from my cal-look '52 split in high school that displayed a surfer etched in the glass; back in '79.

For those of you who didn't know Gene Berg I can tell you he ALWAYS wore a plaid shirt. This one is rather low key to some others. At his funeral there was Gene wearing his plaid shirt in the coffin. I'll never forget that.......
