Hi Mike, Sounds good. Back in1997/8 if I remember correctly we had a little friendly rivalry to see who could run the number first Will let you know when I'm over next.

The interior of this car is what really impressed me when I first saw it years ago in one of the major magazines. If anyone has interior pics of this car to post, that would be great. Very cool car! Andy check here maxx old blog with lot of picture of the car

thanks Jim. it is a blast to drive, and i love it's history. i have been thinking about tweaking some JGE torkers to make them look like AR mags as they really suit the car... one of my favorite shots

That car was in a summer edition of Volksworld in 1997. It blew me away, together with Greg Brinton's black'67 from same issue.

I have just come across this proof picture that a book called Custom Cars used. I have just found a few pictures of the car. Some black and white. I think they used too much matting spray.

I remember doing some work on the motor (after Bernie sold the car) after fixing a sump incident. Running it up it had flames spitting out the muffler. It was a real animal!

Hi Phil, You got me thinking now Now correct me if I'm wrong people but when Bernie still owned the car it was a very high compression motor ( for a street car ) then Bernie sold it to a guy ( was it a Steve ? ) who found the motor to lairy for him to be comfortable with and he took it to Peter at Cogbox who suggested lowering the CR right back down to 9.5 / 10:1 ? and the car was nowhere near as fast on the track as it used to be when Bernie had it ? Then Max bought if from " Steve " and pretty sure had Pete at Funkenblitz strip the motor down completely and replace any worn parts and get the CR back up to a decent measure and under Max the Dark Lord was resurrected and pretty quick once again down the quarter mile Least that's what I heard......

Hi Shane You're right apart from the name. It did have a healthy compression when I owned but I drove it to Belgium for a meeting. It ran a best of 11.8 and then lost a couple of seconds when a guy called Michael James bought it from me. Also he did not buy the original American racing wheels as they were sold to a guy in the States.

It's one of my all time favourite lookers too. Everything about it was right, nothing to be added or taken away. The interior in particular was a beauty, really nice quality and fitment. Didn't mind it when it was prawn pink too.

Mark James, not Michael. He also owned the lowlight Ghia that Ivan had previously (the one that Brian Burrows raced for a couple of seasons and now belongs to one of Ian Clarkes friends), and I'm pretty sure he also had that really nice Zenith Blue US-spec 67 for a while too. Guy has some good taste in cars!
