SSP stainless steel 2-tip exhaust

Has anyone tried this one? Or saw this one in real metal?

I am interested in something similar to the VW Motorsport exhaust but the SSP one seems to be of a better quality.

I haven't seen the stainless version but the standard unit is quite loud, and doesn't have a good tone, IMO. I highly doubt it has proper baffling for good performance.

I've seen the VW version up close, and the construction quality of that version, at least, left a lot to be desired.  Never seen the stainless one up close, but the design itself seems less than optimal when compared to a good single or dual QP system with a quality four into one header.

Black iron or stainless, it is still a crappy exhaust that wohnt supprt any power anyway.  And it WILL aid in raising engine temperatures on a 1600 engine. To me its a rip off and an attempt to have something in the product range for people with small funds, so they can take whatever is in the wallet and not care about what the end user is actually getting.
You would be way better off gutting a stock muffler and then buy a set of performance endpipes from Turbo Thomas for instance, or even the CSP ones.

Any tips on a good exhaust system that keeps the factory 2-tip design ? (apart from the CSP one) it would be for a 1300/1600 engine.

That´s the one I helped develop. The last one I used was put on a 1600 std plus stage 2, helped pull 70 hp and 140 Nm torque @ 3000, but 120+ Nm from 2000-4000 rpm. Find me an exhaust of that type that beats that.

In a more aggressive stage the engine pulled 75 hp and still 142 Nm torque, but it was a little too sensetive in the lower rpms., so I switched back to the safe stage.

I've found a few more, "Sebring style". I've never heard about these ones before :

What about this one? The only thing I don't like are the chromed tip, but as they seem to be removable it would be easier to made new ones.

If you want a cheap muffler that actually aids in performance, you should buy the Tri Mill 2 tip (or the Empi equivallent. They are almost alike) in ceramic coated. Some call it the hot dog muffler. It has some sound to it, but way less than the Sebring.

I love the sound, I much prefer it to a quiet pack or curly bazooka tube. It's still got the trademark VW beat at idle that I really like, but sounds like it just grew up past a teen and it's voice changed!
For that price, I can't even build one. I might actually buy an exhaust system for the first time in over 10 years, rather than build it myself. 

I've never been really keen on the 4-1 "buzzing'bee" sound. Each to their own I guess.

I've never heard the Sebring exhaust, but my curiosity is peaked as to what it sounds like.  I'm not a real fan of "buzzy" exhausts, either. The sound of a good merged header with dual QPs rocks.

Kroc. The VS is a very nice and high finish muffler. That system you show cannot be coupled to heat exchangers. You need "the heater box version" for that. And that actually kills a little power and some torque. Not the end of the World, but there is a distingt difference.  The muffler is quite OK. The sound level is a tad higher than "I" like. But TT´s is still THE ONLY off the shelf aftermarket muffler where the preheat works as good as a factory VW or Leistritz muffler, and has semi merged primaries WITH heater boxes. Without bragging I can say that I still havent seen a stock style muffler support more hp AND overall torque than the TT´and still keep cylinderhead temps right where it should be.

Now, I could tell you as an enthusiast that in person they are incredible. But as a person who used to evaluate systems for a living, these systems are phenominal. The workmanship is so far and beyond anything else I've seen for a VW, it's incredible. Hand TIG welded as well. Take a look at the detail photos:




As I'm planning on using heater boxes, the system ships with these flanges, that you can either weld to the heater boxes or use with factory clamps.
