More progress, just waiting on shortened front leafs, then it's back up North. One fly in the ointment is that the delivery driver has just gone on 2 weeks holiday.. Sad .

Thanks to the inspiration in the colours thread I'm now down to 2 colours, Agave Green or Polaris Silver....green is currently winning.

Well the very day I get out to work, I got these pics. I've had worse first days back at work to be fair  Grin. So the next jobs include (in no particular order): Fitting the lowered spindles, and CSP discs on the front. Rebuild the rear drums, run the new brake lines,  Soundproof the pan, have DTH stonechip the framehead and underneath, before putting another coat of black on. Only another 28 days to go before i can get back to it  Roll Eyes  Grin

Still away with work, but time for some updates thanks to Donald at DTH. New front wings came from Karmman Konnection, and no time was wasted banging them on. The pics tell the story for everything else. Just need to find some OEM rear wings... any help please please PM me.

Well getting up for work and finding another update on my email is a good way to start the day. In a couple of days I'll be home to get in the way and slow the project right down Cheesy. Rear wings are on there for mocking up. Still looking for some OEM steel

Right then, I've been able to get my hands onto the bug, after a few set backs due to poor project managing on my behalf I eventually managed to get the front brakes fitted. Which meant the wheels could be fitted, which then meant the chassis could meet the body for the first time since they had been separated about 5 months ago.

Fingers were firmly crossed, which stopped me helping with the actually lifting... Cheesy but without my help everything dropped into place and the holes lined up. Wheels and tyres fitted under the arches which was a worry of mine and things are moving in the right direction. Next is sort out a leak, change some mounts and bushes for rubber ones, plumb in the brakes, sound proof the pan.

Thanks Kev

Motor is the one that was going to go into the red one.

The motor is going to be a 1915cc based on a new CB performance case with Las Banditos heads, Scat C25 cam and 44 IDF's. It's currently being built by Richie Webb.

You don't happen to have a Near Side OEM rear wing laying around do you? You know hidden under a bunch of keys or behind the sofa?  Grin

Cheers

Lol, turbo was never mentioned, mind I started the engine way before I got into this project.

Anyway, Mini..update time. After buying some replacement quarter lights (vent windows) I decided to fit new seals and generally spruce them up. So like a fool who has no idea what he's letting himself in for I stripped down the frames. Which gave me 4 frames of differing quality, handily I managed to find 2 windows with matching etching.....which was nice

So it was out with the emery cloth and paint. a rub down and blast of under coat and black, and I had this.

Then my nightmare began, fitting the rubbers  Angry a few hours of wrestling, cutting, shaving rubber, hair dryer (don't tell the wife) and I got to here

However perseverance, a bottle of beer and eventually I got to here..I still need to get the hair dryer out and sort out a couple of ripples, also a need to improve the closing on one, but that's a job for after this next stint at work Sad

Well I head back to work..BOOOO, but the work on the project continues Hooray!!!.  Just made sure on the colour and Jerry reinforced my choice of green.

Then he sent pics of the prep...that made me very happy!!. Then I realised I was at work for at least another 3 weeks, and wouldn't see it for a while boo.

So have some pics folks, courtesy of the sharpest paint gun in Tillicoultry and soon the world.

A few more pics of the prep, lovely neat seam sealing, everytime i've done it it's like a kid with chewing gun has been let loose on the car. So fingers crossed into primer this week. You can see Jerrys new paint booth in the background, wonder if mine will be the first one through it.

More work going on, floor pan now soundproofed, brakes fitted, lines run and body seal fitted. The body continues to be prepped, and will hopefully colour in be in the next few weeks

Right then, back home from work and this week looks to be an exciting one. Jerry has been working away and the body is back in the booth for another coat of primer......then it's colour time. Fingers crossed this weekend could see it in colour and back on it's floor plan.

In other news, a very generous customer of DTH's has donated his rear day moulding wings to let the project carry on. Thankfully Richie has some new day mouldings coming in, so these can be returned asap. So thanks all round.

Have some pics,

and thanks to VW Gasser Garage, I now have a set of '67 front seats, so time to get those stripped, painted and trimmed....well maybe in January, it's been an expensive 8 months  Grin

A little update from this morning, second primer coat on and half rubbed down. Tomorrow colour? maybe!!

Well exciting times...for me at least.

Body now in paint, really chuffed to get to this stage a testament to a lot of peoples hard work.

So some flatting to do, then on with the lacquer. Then there's the bonnet, deck lid doors to do, but still moving in the right direction  Grin
