Agave Green '67 Cal Looker

After ordering a new Dogback Performance beam, it was painted by Jerry at Deadline and now i had no excuse not to fit it.

Well no excuse apart from it was cold, however today i found some motivation, put the car on some trolleys and span it round in the garage to get some more room and got to it.
 
A few hours later i had the old beam out, (after i successfully pinned myself to the floor with it   )

Anyway have some pics, tomorrow i should have most of it back together...maybe

More work going on, floor pan now soundproofed, brakes fitted, lines run and body seal fitted. The body continues to be prepped, and will hopefully colour in be in the next few weeks

With the Cal Look Drag Day rapidly approaching and with me only having 2 weeks at home before then, I have a list of jobs to be done......so no panic  

The Car is still tits up on sticks in the garage, so that's the first job to do when i get back. The next is to get it down to DTH and Deadline for it to be prepped, for prepped read, fix all the Stuff i've done wrong.  

Whilst it is there, this will be fitted. A quick buy from RJ Volksperformance, I think it was up about an hour before I dived in to get it...the only concern I have, is that it will disappear and end up on DTHs '67 painted Beige

Well I could be accused of being very slack in getting the front of my car rebuilt. In my defence we have had a BossHogg Jnr who has taken up my time (and he's great  )

So this week i pulled my finger out and got it back together, just in time to enjoy some sun and find out if the issues i had were resolved.



A quick wash to clear off the garage grime.



In other news, Ross Hastie and Jerry at Deadline paint hatched a plan and produced a lovely sign for my garage....yes there is an apostrophe missing...I can barely spell so i think it's fine

Today the weathers been great so it was time to run down to Tillicoultry to drop the car off for a going over and paint. It was an eventful trip after almost being run off the road by the one member of a Subaru club heading to Crail. 

The rest of the drive was great, a few blats to clear the IDAs....that's my excuse officer

DTH was busy when i got there, plenty of projects on the go, and DTH's Ex-DKP car was there, so a quick photo and off home.

Well this summer has been a great one, starting off with a trip to the Cal Look Drag day, and shock upon shock my wife joining me at a few car shows....apparently it's good family time and it means i can indoctrinate my son (6months old) with the ways of aircooled motors.

In other news some modifications have been made, the last one being a cab deck lid. So time for a bit of photo whoring. My best aircooled trophy from a local show and the new deck lid fitted.

After enjoying a summer of putting some miles on the clock, this winter has been used to sort out a few annoying bits and pieces.

First up was the glovebox, the plastic after market one, had to be adapted to fit and caused a problem with the hinges which caused the lid to contact the dash when fully open.
Wolfsburg West have a new replacement and it fits a treat.



The second bit of work was to replace the windscreen wiper spindles. nice easy job and now my wipers shouldn't get lost after doing a few wipes.

Last bit for the moment is a set of Jaycee stacks and filters, with hopefully a few road trips planned this year, hopefully these will be a wise investment

Had a few months flat out at work so not much car progress but  the 56 is not a million miles away from paint & the 55 closer to going down the track than it's ever been
Hopefully we'll get a catch up sometime

Another winter update, I thought it was time to upgrade the shocks. Chatting to DTH he recommend trying Protech, so a few phone calls later a chat on what I was after, a set was ordered and winging its way to me. Whilst doing this i took the chance to swap the old shock bolts for some plated ones. Anyway here's some pics, just need some salt free roads to see how the go and do some adjustments.

A little update, after last years trip to the Cal Look Drag day i came away thinking that maybe a little bit more power wouldn't be a bad thing

So this year the 1915cc unit came out and was rebuilt by Richie to 2276cc with Steve Timms heads and a new cam, crank and fly wheel (I can't remember which one at the moment) Then it was a little drive to meet Richie, then up to DTH in Scotland. The engine was fitted along with a new external oil cooler and it was time to trailer it home to finish off.

So now it's time to run it in, and have some fun
