WHAT'S UP WID DA BOOM BOOM???

« on: July 23, 2007, 02:53:31 am »

Here's a few pictures from a get-together held today in Pennsylvania.  We started out in the morning at a local all-makes car show at a small local airport, then cruised over to a cool car-themed restaurant for some fun.

I have a few more pics at home I'll post after work.  The black 'vert and the orange "gasser" '67 belong to the same guy.

Hello all, Thanks for the interest in my cars!  Lil Snort is what inspired me to run the flared fenders AND cut the beam 3 inches. I have had the black convertible since the late 80"s. It has been in it's current state since the mid 90"s.

Nice orange car (and 'vert too). Your example is one my favorite gasser: Lill Snort. Your car is finished or under construction ? If not, what are your next evolutions ?
You're a lucky guy: 2 cars: one for the summer, on for the winter. So you can drive a vwdub all year long !

Hey Franck, The orange car is "finished" for now but I have considered lettering and pinstriping for the future. My biggest goal is to get it to the track and see what it will run in the quarter. They salt the roads so much here in the winter that a beetle turns to dust in short order Shocked

I still like your car a lot Mike (Hauer)!
It's got to be a java 67 thing - hear hear  Grin

Perhaps I should get the kadron stacks as well  Wink

And Mike (Maize), your 67 is very gasser-like indeed, nice cool!
I'm sure we all love the decklid  Cool
As far as the kab! You need to raise the rear a tad...

Sweet, guys...

Thanks, Diederick. The decklid was one of the best scores on the car. We were at a  bug show only 30 miles from my house. Dave Cormack (ex Hot VW's editor) knew I was working on a gasser styled 67 and said "come here I want to show you something". I followed him to a guys tent and he pointed to the decklid and quietly said " you know what that is right". Anyway the guy in the tent see's us eyeing it up and says," how much will you give me for it", and Dave says how about  20 dollars! I think I ended up paying 25 dollars or something like that. It is one of the best parts of the car Grin The hood is another good story..........Oh yeah the 4.5's are another good story too.......

On the stance of the Kab......its been that way for about 17 years and I dig it. It is IRS and handles like a slot car on our curvy country roads....

Haha, great score indeed! I would really consider having a decklid like that one if I'd find one (disregardful of the price for a moment) even though I'm putting the trim back on some time soon... It looks so cool! Better than the "eyebrow" decklid I think...

IRS explains the stance, and if it handles well who am I to tell you to fix it?  Wink

No Mike, I fall short cos mine's off the road again haha!
I need to fix it real soon, until that time. Respeck!  Grin
