This year VolksWorld magazine reaches a milestone in VW magazine publishing.

VolksWorld was first published in 1987 and 20 years later it is still the UK market leader and remains the number one place for the VW specialist companies to advertise in the UK.

The 1st issue went on sale on 25th September 1987 created such a demand that it sold out. The response was so great Issue 2 was published within the next quarter and went bi-monthly from April 1988. Before we knew it, the magazine was a monthly and went on to be the best performing motoring magazine in the company.

Along the way VolksWorld has spawned three other titles, the technical magazine Keeping Your Legend Alive sold a series of four special magazines between 1990 and 1998. Then the high quality, highly focused Classic VWs series of four issues was published between 1993 and 1994. The latest member of the family is VolksWorld Camper & Bus which was first published in 2005 and has followed a similar path to VolksWorld going from a one off to the highly successful monthly title it is today.

To celebrate the landmark of 20 years at the top, VolksWorld is publishing a Special Collectors 20th Anniversary Issue - which will look back to 1987 and come right up to 2007 with some fresh material.
The magazine will be a high quality perfect bound issue and is sure to be one everyone will be hanging on to. It will go on sale on 6th September.

We’d like to say thanks for your support over the years, and hope you’ll join in this celebration with us.

If you have any comments about VolksWorld and what the magazine means to you, please feel free to send me an email at volksworld@ipcmedia.com we’ll try to include as many quotes as possible in the Special Issue.

Thanks again for your support ,

That is so funny. So, Uncle Keith has "fathered" two VW magazines, eh? So, does that make him a stepfather to Volksworld? Are Ivan and KS related? Does he secretly still get royality checks from Linkhouse?

As I understand this special issue does not form part of the subscription, Ivan says that they are looking in to how we can get it other than WH Smiths.

KS would be the founding father.
And I guess I am the most doting stepfather in the world.
Are KS and I related? Only in our passion for VWs.
I've got to say though, without KS taking me on as his foot stool way back in 1991 I would not have had the amazing life I have had.

 So, the question is...
Do you still think you it was natural that you were so regular in those days?  Wink

I suppose it is lucky I resisted the devil on my shoulder telling me to make you a really special espresso just for fun...
But then, thinking back, a gonzo style feature by Hunter S. Seume might have made interesting reading.

Fancy a coffee at the next Bug-in?

Regular? Could set my clock by it. I'd arrive 9.30-ish, Hayley would have a coffee on my desk within 30 seconds, you'd arrive about 9.59, two coffees in hand(s), I'd visit 1st floor about 10.15...

I've just seen the video on youtube under 'KS caught short'. When I read the title I thought it'd be something to do with the Cornish height police pulling you over and measuring you...
But I was so, so wrong...

And so is that film!

We've literally just passed the last pages for printing, the 20th Anniversary Issue will be printed tomorrow! It's been a mountain of work, not only going through every archive file from the last twenty years (there are two files for every issue!) which means something like 500 files, but also going through each and every photograph!
It's taken me a lot of out of office hours (including one night where I slept in the office as I didn't see the point in driving an hour to get home at 2.30am only to be back here at 8.30am)  - numerous nights have been spent at home with material all over the floor of the living room. I've done too many late shifts checking, rechecking and writing. The project has been both hard work and fun at the same time, and the memories have come flooding back, there's so much I'd forgotten, but it all came back like it was yesterday.
The design side of the magazine has seen our guys go back to the old school - they've been scanning trannies and it's taken a lot of their time.
We've tried to make the special issue something different, so you can expect mostly unseen photos and a few surprises too.
More than anything, the magazine should bring back a few great memories for you.

The 20th Anniversary Issue will be out in the shops in the UK on Sept 6th. American readers will be able to get it from Borders shortly after that, amd it has been confirmed that it will be available in Europe from the shops which you can usually find VolksWorld.
If you have any trouble finding it -  you'll be able to get it from www.volksworld.com

I hope you enjoy it - I've tried to make it a keeper!

Hey Ivan,

Thanks for such a nice magasine.  I was so happy my car got in it to in Febr 2001 (if you still have an extra copy of it, I want it).  Hope to see the magazine still on offer within this and 20 years, so my kids can also enjoy it and I'll just be happy the VW-aircooled scene is still alive as a love it so much.

Keep up the good work and can't wait to see that special edition...
