it was the Lions Associated Drag Strip aka "The Beach"
Oct. 1955 - Dec.2nd 1972

My first trip to a drag strip was to Lions.  I would have been like 5 years old I think.  I remember seeing the Ivo 4-engine drag car up close in the pits.

Dyno, when James was painting that Pomona image, he contact me about a photo I had, taken by the late Charles Strutt. He wanted to look at all the people in the background to paint each of them exactly as they were (clothing, shoes, hats, jackets, etc). Amazing attention to detail.

 Dean, That is very cool to know as everyone who has seen this epic piece seem to notice all the intricate details that make it such a nice rendering.
