I run (ran) the FK-45 in my 2165cc IDA 42 x 37.5, 9.4:1engine until my lifter bores started going away. I was happy with the power, idled smooth at 900-1000 and started coming alive about 2,500 and pulled to 7,000+

How about the FK-10, have a friend that has run both, but want to get some input on the FK-45, and both, if anybody that has ran both.

Same experience on my old engine, though this was a FK-46.

Ted,
I have been advised on one of The Best ... was going to run an FK10 on a future build but he recommended the FK45 over it as the torque and power were superior in several previous builds.
Obviously, I put one into inventory!
As mentioned, the 40 series cams are exceptionally hard on lifter bores so bushing the case is a must with their use.
Only question is ... what ratio to run? The flow numbers will tell the tale.
Good luck with your build ... I'm having thoughts of an experiment myself! LOL

I have used the FK45, FK46 and FK47 and all of them was great driving cams but I would not recommend any of them in a mag case for the reasons already mentioned above. I would simulate the different cams you consider in EA as soon as you know the head flow. You will then see the curves and the difference the different cams will make so that you do not have to guess. In other words, wait with your cam until you have more information from Fred.

May I recommend the Web 86C instead. It has "proved" the FK cams superior on torque several times, while it canīt quite keep up with the FK46 on peak power.

Ditto. I also really enjoyed the Web86C in my street/strip Beetle. Quite smooth and really rips at Street Legal drag races!
I currently have a Raptor 06908 cam that is similar to the FK47, but is less harsh on the valve train.
