Hi,
I have a question regarding rocker selection. I would love to use the JPM 5 bolt rockers and shaft but my budget wont allow just yet. I was interested in the new Pauter 1.4:1 rockers as advertised on the CSP site. Has anyone used these in conjunction with the JPM heads, any drawbacks? Berg rockers were also an option but would only really want an unused or reconditioned set..
Any thoughts appreciated.
Cheers.

You can use what rockers you choose , as the heads are made for normal 2 stud setup or JPM 5 stud . A Finnish guy makes rockerblocks and shafts for Pauterrockers , for using 5 stud setup. Needs a little clearence off the blocks to rockers but else ok. ( can't remember his name) .

I would say if you are going to spend the money on the heads save up and spend the extra money on the rockers. They are really good.

At what point/rev range are the 5 bolt JPM's really needed apposed to the regular 2 bolt ?
I think that's a matter of definition. It's not like you pass a certain rpm and your engine bursts into flames if you use 2-bolt rockers. However, using a 5 bolt setup will provide a much more stable valvetrain - and that's a good thing, especially when talking about a boxer engine.

5 bolt set up is the way to go. I love the Pauters but for long life I'd go for the JPMs as the forged rockers don't fatigue like aluminum.

Maybe bergs with a 5 bolt shaft would be as good? I need to get the engine together and have lots of other expenses so the JPMs will have to wait as much as I would love them. So basically what everyone is saying is nothing comes close to the JPM rockers..
Cheers.

I've been using the Scat 1.4 two-bolt rocker arm kit for three years on my MS230 heads without issue. Started with JPM springs and now have CB VW650 dual springs. Rev limiter is only set at 7900 for racing for now.

I got a reply direct from Pauter and they don't think their rockers work on the MS230 heads? I'm sure I have seen people running them.
If you have the details of the Finnish manufacturer that is making the 5 bolt shafts I would be interested.
Cheers.

What was the reason for the pauters not working ? I remember us talking about shaft size and something not fitting but that might have been a different conversation entirely

Who makes the rocker blocks? I'm having to modify my rockers to fit the MS250 Heads, this may make it easier!

Hi Nick, If Johannes will sell you his shafts and blocks, you can use the New style bushless Pauter rockers. I will post pics of my set up. Regards
David
