Thanks Frenchy, I have been collecting some parts. I hope to get the body back in a couple of weeks and start on the bodywork. I have some pretty cool parts going on the car, hopefully it will be nice.

Some parts I have been collecting for the car. An old breather like I use to run on the black car, it will clean up nice. A Berg traction bar never been used, I ran one of those on the black car as well. and a Treuhaft deep sump, great condition, given to me by a great friend as a donation to the project.

Larry your project is looking great if you are looking for some particular parts let me know . Are you going to install a 36 hp back in it or going with a bigger motor with the IDA'S.

  Thanks

Thanks Frenchy,
I am going with a updated motor with IDA's. I originally was going 36hp with Okrasa kit but IDA's are just so awesome I can't help myself. I ran them for years on the street and nothing like them. I probably won't go to big, 1776 maybe, I want a weekend driver that I can enjoy. My old motor was a 1750 (69x90 npr's), 40x35.5 ported heads, Engle VZ73 cam, it was great. I am basically starting from scratch on the motor, would like to buy one done but so hard to trust anyone these days, I might have to buy the parts and build it myself, and that's ok too.
I was going strato silver but leaning towards the Prairie Beige with red interior (original to the car), if the paint job is really nice I think it could look great. Beige has to be done really nice to pull it off.....
Thanks for the encouragement, I have always enjoyed your cars and look at them as a goal for mine to turn out!

Larry, I'm sure I've posted this somewhere before, but I was once told to load the doors up with glass, wonders and seals when setting door gaps as it gives the correct weight and sag on the hinges. Did it on a car I was working on and the gaps came out perfect.

I found a 22 year old berg 1 5/8" merge header and dual muffs that was never used. I use to run these back in the early 80's and like the look so I wanted to get the setup for my 56.

I agree, that's why I wanted this setup. I ran a wanted to buy add on the Samba for a year and had 2 people contact me, the first wanted way to much for it but this one was reasonable. I will get the muffs cleaned, sanded, and painted with header paint. I always liked how the Berg units tucked up compared to the others.

I was given a 1975 bug motor for free so I have torn it down and the case looks nice so it should be a good base for my motor. I will be sending it out for machine work soon.

Coming along nicely Larry. I was once told that late 1200cc motors are great as case donors, as they have the best factory oiling but the heads are so restrictive they can't be over-revved to knock the saddles out!
