rebuilt the 1679,the barrels supplied are not the slip in 88 as it looks like no one has any.so went to fit the old heads that I have spent 12hours porting to find they dont fit!!!!!  Good job we have the 1776 heads of the self destruct 1903 so fitted those.only prob is they are 044 cnc ,40 inlet30 whatever exhaust.cam is a 120 with 1.25 ratio rockers.question is will the 48idfs be to big ,have 40s with 32 venturis but they need £90 odd bits to get them together.need to know asap for ordering parts as engine needs to go in this friday and get sorted ready for t&t at shakey on 30th .also short or long intakes?

well dont want to rev too much as it needs to be reliable and has only stock rods ,they have been end to end balanced and shot beaded,6 to 6.5 k realy.did have 36s on old engine with 110 cam but think they would be too small now.ordered the bits now ,only spindle,2x venturi and 2 float gaskets needed as robed the 48s for the rest of the bits, jet holders ect

cool, 32mm venturi will work well up to ~6200 rpm. Cam specs to work with 40mm valve and this rpm, 245' @ .050", 279' @ .020" and 298' @ .004" cold lash. For all out purposes, around .490" @ valve

well what a good day at Shakey ,shame more cars didnt turn up but was a t&t at pod.So had a play with timing and jets ,left the 150s at home and 160s defo to rich as black smoke on gear shift and ran a lot slower so 138 fitted.got Holly to take the revs up to 6500 ,burn out ect .ran 2.0 60foot (track preped but not super sticky)launch now flat with drop spindles and a tad of wheel spin.15.07 @78 mph backed up with a 15.1 .hope for 14.8s when engine loosens up as its had a dragrace run in (gentle pass/check out, harder launch/revs run through, full pass!!!).Gamblers again in 2weeks time so will be having a go at winning some cash then.

Nice to hear your making some good progress with it. Did you finish those bits of paint that you were talking about doing last year? Here's to seeing those times tumble this year!

went to Shakey and ran in the Gamblers bracket.Thought there was a 14 in it ,advanced ign timing and first run 14.82,tried a big burn out bogged .small burn out wheel spin 1.9 60ft 14.85 ,that was on a 14.8 dial and we qualified no2.First round 14.82 lift off win.next bye with a mis shift so no decent time but poor 60ft.semis and poor 60ft again 15.00 so lost just.Almost smelt the £££££ nevermind a good test for Spring speed ,think the dial in might be 14.8--------
