been running 16mm spacers at the rear of my bug, short axles, CB rear disc brakes soon to be replaced with Kerscher kit, 66mm OEM Porsche pressed in studs, 205 70 R15 rubbers, FFF Deep 6.

best would be just replace with long axles, but time doesnt permit for now.

is 16mm still within the safe limits or should i be looking at adapters?  having said that i doubt i can find any 16mm adapters.

Plenty of guys run spacers with no troubles. The key is to make sure the lug nuts are torqued.

If you think you're going to be running them permanently, it would be worth considering getting some that are one piece, that fit closely to the stud. I've seen 'em here in the US for the commonly used "ford" or Chevy" bolt patterns, but for the Porsche pattern, might have to have 'em made.
