Corn starch with black paint trick???

Saw in another zombie thread that didn't need to be added to, a trick for black paint useing corn starch to do what? Haveing a black car (sorry not VW). What's involved?

I remember trying that on my mom's black car in the mid 80's but had no idea what I was doing, so it didn't do much.

Alwasy interested in a tip for better black...
Have used corn starch to remove aluminum polish.
On black paint I remove carnuba wax haze with a final mist detailer and micro fiber towels.

I recall using corn starch as a final part when buffing paintwork. But that was back in the 1970's and early 80's.
What it did was to act as a 'lubricant' between the paint and wool buffing pad, helping to lessen the appearance of swirl marks.
But now, modern foam style buffing pads and chemical, more so than abrasive formulated compounds, have reduced the swirl appearance that was so common.
