Just out of interest. How is the drop/height for the front dam determined?

its got to be driven on the road, so it cant be too low.
We'll be able to see if its working from the suspension data logging.

Looks like my new cam will be ready next week in time for the euros.
I keep looking at the can of sonoco 109 wondering how much more power is in there. And comp eliminator isnt a street car class........
LOL

Updates......... Updates........
well the front air dam works a treat, the car has stopped trying to fly, I'll just have to keep an eye on it as the mph starts to clime.
had a very good time at the euro finals, the best track i have ever driven on. Had a few issues with bogging at first due to the track, but i tuned the clutch round it and messed with the 2 step retard to get 28 psi boost on the start line. this resulted and a best time of the day of 9.86 @142 mph. the MPH was down in its usual.
After a look at the data logs No 3 EGT was running cooler than the rest so upon investigation No3 inlet rocker bearings had failed. This may be due to the springs starting to go off and starting to hammer the rocker as they start to bounce. I wont be able to see until i strip the motor down.
After looking into it a lot more it would seam the Rocker bearings are not up to the job, especially as I'm going to have to go up on spring rates with my new cam. So it looks like a redesign to make the rockers last the distance. I've looked at Jesel and many other rocker manufactures, bit can't fine a design that I'm happy with. So it looks like i may have to make my own.
I have also had some issues with the charging side of the car, the small race alternators that i have been using are a pile of Poo! and just not up to the job of charging a simple system never mind mine. I have found a really nice 75amp alternator and now the car is running at 14.4 volts all the time, it has really made a difference to the ignition system and the whole electrical system, brighter lights better starting and the motor sounded a lot crisper.
I had to move the fuel pump to get the new alternator in, so i made a whole new bracket to hold them both. really happy with this bit now.
that's it for now, until i strip the motor down to evaluate bearings, new rocker requirements etc.

More updates........
Looks like weve got a solution to the rockers (thanks Don!)
Ive got a new cam to tryout as the last one wasnt just how i wanted it. Im changing onto billet cylinders this year as the cylinder preshure is going a lot higher.
My Fix to Broken swing axles.....
Did this CV convertion to my mendeola last year, tested it at the finals and it didnt bust! launched at 28 psi seams to have fixed the broken axle situation.
The details are on my website.
http://taylormachine.co.uk/Taylor_Machine_Services/930_Cv_Convertion.html
Im now working on a sequential shifter for the trans, hopfully going to make it clutchless shift so i dont have to let off the power. The shifter is first, then im working on making a gearset with dog engagment. So no more busted prorings!
must get back to it, this winter seams too long already!
Martin.

With this amount of power, I bet you would get a kick out of watching the Bonus track on the 2009 SCC dvd, where Skinne takes you on a guided tour on the IRS setup on his 9.01 florpan bug. There are some neat tricks under there.

Glad you enjoyed it, myself I just dig when you get the backside of a fast car...like this thread. I think both you and him are sort of the creative type, that always evolve things instead of giving up!
And thanks for supporting the SCC!

blimy its been a while since i updated this.... Baby's have been getting in the way!
Right then, Crower rockers are now across the atlantic on the Red Baron, to help them out of a hole. all the bearing carriers were cracking and just not up to the job, Team Red Baron are using a different style of bearing thats helping them last a little longer. but this is a short term fix.
So what ive done with the help of Don is use a set of there development rockers, but ive had to mount them in a similar way to the crowers, as i didnt want to weld on the billet heads to much.
take a look..
this is how it started off
Just to get the layout right.
I have also changed to sump scavenge so i have one -12 line from it to the pump, Hope it works otherwise i'll be ordering another sump! lol
the red bit on the end is an inline cleanable -12 filter
theres also a new cam grind in there, trying some stuff out again....
if all goes to plan i should be on the dyno this week to see if all this rubbish works out
