I picked these headlights up in Germany back in the 80s, and never installed them since I couldn't figure out how to attach them to the headlight brackets in my 68 bug.
It says right on the box that they should fit but there must be a different bracket in europe. In American bugs the H4 Bosch kit like this didn't have a removable front glass either.
Does anyone know where I can get the brackets to fit these to my car? I ordered some LED bulbs to go with them so I'm dying to use the bulbs in these.

Some Late bugs have 3 small tabs in the headlight buckets

Not sure if a 68 would, especially if it has genuine wings, it may not have them.

My headlight buckets in the fenders do have the mounting tabs which is what US spec headlights we have here use to mount the bulb assemblies.
I googled the above Bosch kit and came up with some pics and it looks like the euro way to mount them is to the front chrome trim piece, rather than a bracket behind the bulb.
Does this pic look familiar to you guys in Europe? Notice the euro style trim ring has the two screws showing for adjustment of the beam while US trim ring does not have the two screws.

yes I'd say you need the trim rings to go with it

They are easy to find used in Europe, and most retailers have new repros available

Thanks, those look perfect except I would need the inner ring and screws to attach my lamps to the ring it appears. The pictures in my first link show an inside ring that I don't have either. Would that be re popped or would I need to find those used?

For anyone interested in upgrading their headlights: I ordered a pair of LED bulbs from china on eBay for about $50. I installed the LED bulb in one of my Brazil headlight units on my winter bug and took a pic. There are two good reasons to upgrade besides the potential for longer bulb life which remains to be seen. One: less current draw so less stress on your wiring and switch as well as battery. In my bench test, the LED only took a couple amps while the old halogen took almost six. Nice. Also I prefer the white light rather than the warm light for visibility.
